Master Makers: Make Your Own Picture Frame

Master Makers: Make Your Own Picture Frame

Date: 28 September, 10am-6pm

In this 1-day workshop, you will make your own wooden picture frame using a variety of tools and woodworking techniques.

You will have the choice of making an A4 or A3 frame, and are welcome to bring along your own picture if you wish.

During this hands-on workshop, we will lead you through all the processes and techniques to make your picture frame, teaching you transferable woodworking knowledge and skills as we go.

Over the course of the day, you will:

-Measure and cut the timber and back panel using specialist tools, including a morso mitre cutter and chopsaw.

-Glue and clamp the wood using spring mitre clamps.

-Sand and finish the frame using a choice of natural, stain or painted finishes.

-Fit the fixing and hanging components and glass.

At the end of the day, you will take home your new bespoke frame, to fill with a picture to brighten up your walls, and as a lasting reminder of your woodworking skills!

This workshop is suitable for all abilities and will be taught in small groups. The class is suitable for anyone age 14+, but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Complete woodworking beginners may benefit from attending one of our introductory 'Wonder Makers' workshops beforehand, such as Demystifying Woodworking Tools, though this is not a requirement.
