Tim retired in December 2016 as president of MIO Partners, Inc. which manages investment programmes for McKinsey's current and former partners, as well as the firm's retirement plans. Tim joined McKinsey in 1991, to start and head up the European investment activity for the firm, taking over the running of the global activity in 1997. Prior to that, he was a director of Advent Ltd, a UK based venture capital firm. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in London and has an honours degree in Engineering Science from the University of Durham.
Karen Anderson, Social Investment & Legal Structures
Karen works with social entrepreneurs to grow and scale businesses to change the world. She has worked with more than 1,000 organisations and teams since 2002. She is a Churchill Enterprise Fellow for 2018. An experienced professional consultant, Karen enjoys working with social enterprises, community organisations, development trusts, community transport organisations, housing associations, co-operatives and charities to develop sustainable organisations through innovative methods of growth, franchising/replication and buying profitable private businesses as well as investment readiness support. As a member of the faculty at Cambridge Judge Business School Centre for Social Innovation she supports social ventures through the Social Venture Weekend and their Social Venture Incubator. She also works directly with organisations and through a number of organisations like UnLtd, Inspiring Scotland, Institute for Social Entrepreneurs and Big Potential. Her projects utilise her experience gained in working in the private sector (starting in 1987) in a variety of roles including operations, project and account management, due diligence, sales, marketing and PR, technology development, logistics, retail, research. Karen has been working with Goldfinger Factory supporting our growth plans since 2015 through the UnLtd Big Venture Challenge and Big Potential.
